1. Will bronze jewellery turn my skin green?
I can sometimes. This is a natural reaction that is harmless and temporary and is caused from the copper in the bronze and your skin's oils, especially when there's moisture. To can try and prevent it, keep your jewellery and skin dry. A little trick is to paint a thin layer of clear nail polish on the part of the jewelry that touches your skin. But the green does wash off easily.
2. How do I clean my bronze jewelry? This is very easy! For a light clean, just use a soft polishing cloth. For something more stubborn, mix a little mild soap with warm water, gently scrub with a soft toothbrush, rinse, and dry it completely. Never use harsh chemicals. We can also give it a polish if you return it back to us. The change in the patina over time is actually my favourite part of bronze jewellery and is part of the graceful aging process.
3. Is bronze jewelry good for sensitive skin? Most people can wear bronze without any issues. However, because it contains copper, some people with very sensitive skin or specific metal allergies might experience irritation. The green mark is a chemical reaction, not usually an allergic one. If you have known metal allergies, please be careful and only use metals that are ok for you.
4. What's the real difference between bronze and brass? They are different alloys, but they do look similar. Bronze is mostly copper mixed with tin. Brass is mostly copper mixed with zinc. This gives bronze a warmer, more reddish-brown tone, this is why I love using bronze. Brass is typically more yellowish-gold.
5. Can I wear bronze jewelry every day? Absolutely. Bronze is a very strong and durable metal. It's perfect for everyday wear. Just remember the basic care tips, like taking it off before you shower, and it will last you a very long time.
